X is for xi

Xi is the 14th letter of the Greek alphabet, so I'm told. It actually has nothing to do with what I'm going to say. But it starts with x!

Last night I went to a bonfire that 1st Glide's hall parents put on for us and our brother hall (Johnson 2nd West). It was good times! Rather than writing a ton, I shall just post pictures:

Sam and I dressed up as doctors. Or nurses. Or people wearing scrubs. Take your pick.

Heather, one of the Beatles, seranading Courtney the horsewoman.

Me, going down the zipline.

Several girls dressed up as some of our brothers. From left to right is Jordan, Kelsey (as either Stephen Bush, Zach Stone, or Dustin Pugel or just general J2W guy), Stephen, Mary (as Caleb Sigler, who didn't go last night), Felice (as Dustin Ford), and Dustin himself.

David, Jordan, and Stephen shaking their faces off. Ahh yes, good, mature, college fun. :P

This afternoon I am participating in what I believe shall be my first ever flag football game, organized by none other than Heather Krauss. I'm looking forward to it.

W is for Wow

I could come up with a better W word, but I didn't. So there.

This morning in Chapel Joel and Lizzy (our class sponsors) announced the Unashamed class hymn: How Great the Father's Love for Us. This was my second choice (after Come Thou Fount), but overall I'm quite pleased with it. There were possibilities that I like a lot less.

How deep the Father's love for us,
How vast beyond all measure
That He should give His only Son
To make a wretch His treasure

How great the pain of searing loss,
The Father turns His face away
As wounds which mar the chosen One,
Bring many sons to glory

Behold the Man upon a cross,
My sin upon His shoulders
Ashamed I hear my mocking voice,
Call out among the scoffers

It was my sin that held Him there
Until it was accomplished
His dying breath has brought me life
I know that it is finished

I will not boast in anything
No gifts, no power, no wisdom
But I will boast in Jesus Christ
His death and resurrection

Why should I gain from His reward?
I cannot give an answer
But this I know with all my heart
His wounds have paid my ransom

V is for Vanishing Facebooks

My Facebook has followed in the footsteps of my MySpace and been deleted. I decided that (1) it was a bit hypocritical of me to delete one and not the other and (2) it's more of a hinderance and time-waster than anything else. Not to say I didn't enjoy it, because I did, but somewhere around Sunday I started to feel rather convicted about it and the fact that I was trying to create a reason not to give it up eventually confirmed the fact that I should (if that makes sense). So I deleted it and it is now gone off in cyberspace somewhere.

I still welcome contact from non-Asburians, however! I would welcome any emails (even ones in facebook-wall format) at my Asbury address (which, to prevent spam, I shall not post here) or at musicalily@gmail.com (which forwards everything to my Asbury address).

Perhaps with all the time I shall save by not being on facebook, I'll actually post here more often.

U is for 'Uber'

'Uber' is a funny word. Sam likes to say it, and it's kind of rubbed off on me. There is, for example, a very tall guy here. I don't know is real name, but he is commonly referred to as 'uber tall guy.' I think he's 6'10" or something crazy like that. There are also people who run uber fast, or clothes that are uber cool.

I've been sitting here for quite a long time trying to come up with something to write. I think I'm ready to be done with the alphabet.

U is also for "ultamint frizbe", which Lisa told me I should write about. I'm pretty sure she meant ultimate frisbee. I don't know much about ultimate frisbee, except that you use a frisbee and apparently it's the ultimate way to use one.

And finally, U is for Unashamed, as in the Unashamed Class of 2010. Hooray for us. I must go write a paper now. Goodnight.
